Iowa City Creative Corridor Career Tour

If you are interested in meeting professionals and exploring careers, internships and full-time employment opportunities across a variety of exciting fields and industries, please join the Berry Career Institute's Iowa City Creative Corridor Career Tour! We will be visiting three local organizations covering fields and industries including economic development, biotech, healthcare administration, engineering, entrepreneurship, education, finance and others. 8:15am-Meet in Thomas Commons lobby

8:20am- depart from Thomas Commons Circle (transportation provided)

9:00am-11am-Site visit at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Mercy Hospital is a regional leader providing acute and chronic care services. During this visit we will hear from a panel of professionals covering a wide variety of functions including healthcare providers, educators and business administrators. Mercy-Iowa City has a wide range of internships and volunteer opportunties available.

11:30am-1:30pm- Site visit and lunch with the Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD). ICAD is tasked with increasing the economic growth of the region by recruiting and retaining companies within the local area, as well as building and expanding its workforce. If you're interested in meeting and networking with some of the most influential business contacts in Iowa, you won't want to miss this visit. Lunch will be provided by a local downtown eatery.

2:00pm-4pm- Site visit at Integerated DNA Technologies (IDT). IDT is the global leader in the manufacturing, sales and distribution of synthetic DNA. Based in Coralville, IA, with offices and laboratories across the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, IDT supplies strands of DNA to small university labs with only a couple researchers, to large global pharmaceutical companies, and everything in between. At this visit we will take a behind the scenes tour of their manufacturing facilities and also take part in a panel discussion with professionals from across the organization.

Requirements and application procedures for the Iowa City Creative Corridor Career Tour:

• Apply online by noon Thursday, February 2nd.  Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a spot on the trip. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Attend the Pre-departure meeting on Monday, February 6th (11:30 am in the Thayer conference room, Thomas Commons).
• Please note this is a free program, however if you are selected to attend and accept the spot on the trip, but then fail to show up, you will be charged a $5 fee.
