2018-2019

The following dates pertain only to Residence Life student staff.  These dates are tentative and subject to change. Please note these dates and be prepared to discuss with their ADRL any possible conflicts.

Spring:

  • All Staff Meet-and-Greet: Monday, March 26, 2018 @ 8:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. in Durham Classroom
  • Area Team Training Sessions: TBD by your specific Assistant Director of Residence Life:
  • Current and New Staff End of Year Celebration: Monday, May 7, 2018 @ 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in Pfeiffer Hall Lounge

Summer:

  • Summer training website link will be sent via e-mail the week of July 16, 2018.
  • The pre-training assessment, all training modules and final quiz must be completed by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018.

Fall:

  • You must arrive on campus and be ready to begin training by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018.
  • You are able to move in between 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018; please be in contact with your ADRL to coordinate. Keys will be available to pick-up at the Campus Safety office in Ebersole.

Academic Year:

  • You must attend Resident Assistant staff meetings on Monday evenings.  Meetings are scheduled from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.  Your ADRL will communicate where these meetings will take place.

Fall Break:

  • All buildings will have on-call coverage during Fall break.  While volunteers from each staff will be sought first, please be aware you may be assigned to be on-call during this time.

Winter Break:

  • You must plan to stay on campus until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
  • You are able to stay on campus until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 if this is better for your schedule.

Winter Training:

  • You must arrive on campus and be ready to begin training by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019.
  • You are able to move in between 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 if this is better for your schedule; please be in contact with your ADRL to coordinate.
  • Depending on the number of incoming new and transfer students for Block 5, some RAs may be asked to arrive on Thursday, January 10, 2019 to assist with winter orientation.

Spring Break:

  • All buildings will have on-call coverage during Spring break.  While volunteers from each staff will be sought first, please be aware you may be assigned to be on-call during this time.

End of Year:

  • You must plan to stay until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019 after Commencement. 
  • You must move out prior to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019. If you require an extension please be in contact with your ADRL to coordinate.
  • If you are a senior you are expected to assist with closing activities through Saturday, May 11, 2019. You may opt out of assisting with closing activities on Commencement Sunday, however, you would then need to move out of your building by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019.  

*Note: Every building is staffed during Block Breaks and there will be on-call responsibilities during these times.  While volunteers from each staff will be sought first, please be aware you may be assigned to be on-call during this time.
