Registrar Resources for New Students
If you are a newly registered student or considering attending Cornell College as a non-traditional student, you'll be working closely with an admission counselor to apply and complete your admission requirements for Cornell.
First-year students
First-year students are those who are attending college full-time for the first time. You will be registered for your first block at Cornell, your First-Year Seminar, before you arrive on campus. During New Student Orientation you will meet with your academic advisor and register for the rest of your first semester courses (blocks 2-4). Students register for their spring semester courses in Block 3.

Based on work that you have already completed you may be able to transfer credits from another college or university. You can also demonstrate your knowledge of subject matter through an Advanced Placement examination or Cornell Placement exam which may affect how you will complete your Ingenuity curriculum requirements.

Transfer students
If you are transferring from another higher education institution, whether you've studied there for a semester or you have completed your A.A. degree and are looking for a home to complete your Bachelors degree we look forward to working with you at Cornell. Students who come to Cornell with less than 7 credit hours (28 semester hours) at another institution will follow the same path to course registration as first-year students.
Students with 7 or more hours of credits (28 semester hours) will be connected with a faculty advisor during the Admission process to plan and register for your first year of courses (blocks 1-8).
Your transfer coordinator works closely with our office to ensure that we review your transcripts and give you credit for work you have completed at another institution and has built out several online resources for you to explore.
International students
We welcome you to the Hilltop. You will register for your first year of courses the same as a domestic first-year or transfer student.
As an international student you may wish to understand what credits that you have accumulated during your education can be applied to your Cornell College education.

Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment is the term for college credits that you earned while studying at a high school level that can apply to your Cornell College education and your Ingenuity curriculum requirements.
