First-year Writing Program

Cornell's first-year writing courses serve as Cornell's introduction to writing at the college level. The "W" course is required of all students who earn the B.A. degree, and students are directed to take the course in their first year at Cornell. The "W" courses are offered in many fields of study, including English, History, Sociology, and Russian, so that students can choose a field of particular interest.

For targeted individual support in developing their writing skills, both in writing courses and other courses involving writing, students can make use of Cole Library's Writing Studio.
