Explore the world with partnered global study programs!

Want to study abroad somewhere outside of Cornell’s own program offerings? You have options! We partner with a group of experienced study abroad providers who offer high-quality academic and cultural experiences around the globe.

If you’re looking at a program that isn’t offered by one of our affiliated partners, don’t worry—you can still apply! You’ll just need to work with the Off-Campus Studies Office and the Office of Financial Assistance to review the program’s quality and set up a consortial agreement (an official agreement of understanding that connects your program to Cornell).

Cornell also has exchange partnerships with universities in Japan as well as South Korea. For more information about affiliated programs and exchange partnerships, please contact the Off-Campus Studies Office.

Steps to learn more and apply to study abroad through partner provider:

  1. Make an appointment with the Off-Campus Studies Office to explore your options.
  2. Create an account with Via TRM and explore affiliated programs.
  3. Follow the application procedures for your chosen program.

Note: although you may start the application process with an outside program before receiving approval from Cornell College, we recommend that you do not place a deposit with the program until your participation is approved by the College. Approval by Cornell College is contingent on completion of the Off-Campus Studies Petition.

Complete these steps through Cornell before your program starts

  1. Meet with Financial Assistance to understand how your study plan will work with your financial aid package and/or (for students who select an unaffiliated program only) to establish a consortial agreement between Cornell and the outside program provider.
  2. Apply for Ingenuity in Action transcription and funding.
  3. Submit your Off-Campus Studies Petition to the Office of Off-Campus Studies at least 90 days prior to your program start date.
  4. File your petitions for transfer of credit BEFORE leaving for your program.
  5. Complete an intake application for your program in Via TRM.
  6. Register for Cornell College courses for the semester or term you plan to be abroad.
