What Can I Do: How to Recognize and Help When Someone is in Distress, Are you concerned about a friend but don’t know what to do? Do you wonder what to say to a peer in distress? Come to learn tips for recognizing and helping when someone may be experiencing depression, thinking about suicide, or otherwise in distress. Also, learn about helping resources on and off campus. Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)
The RAD Basic Self-Defense Class for Women is generally offered once each semester. If you have a group of women who'd like to take the class at another time, it may be possible to arrange an additional class. The program consists of 12 hours of instructional training and simulation and participants must complete at least the first 9 hours of instruction in order to complete the class; the simulation exercise at the end is optional but encouraged.For more info., contact Brenda (319-895-4292) or Officer Gehrke (319-895-6141).
There must be at least 8 participants for class to run, and class size is limited to 12.
$25 participation fee is required; financial assistance may be available.
