Purpose: The Technology Policy Advisory Committee (TPAC) is advisory to, and is appointed by, the president. The committee also provides advice on relevant areas to the Director of Information Technology, the Director of College Communications, and the College Librarian. The committee advises and serves as a sounding board to the above officers regarding the college’s technology needs, priorities, service and support levels, emerging technologies, and related matters.
Membership: The committee shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Vice President for Advancement or designee
- Vice President for Business Affairs or designee
- Vice President for Enrollment Services or designee
- Vice President for Student Affairs or designee
- College Librarian
- Director of College Communications
- Director of Information Technology
- Two faculty members (on staggered two-year terms)
- Student
The president shall appoint the chair, who may be one of the above members.
Subcommittees: TPAC may create subcommittees, either ad hoc or for longer periods of time, to deal with any areas in its domain of interest, including the college’s website, instructional technology, desktop technology, library technology, administrative systems, telephony, television services, etc. At least one TPAC member shall sit on any TPAC subcommittee. Current subcommittees include
- the Instructional Technology Subcommittee, with a membership consisting of a faculty member from each of the college’s five academic divisions, the IT Manager of Desktop Services, and the Academic Media Consultant. The two faculty members of TPAC represent their divisions on the subcommittee. The subcommittee chair shall be the TPAC faculty serving the second year on TPAC. This subcommittee vets and recommends to TPAC on issues related to policies and priorities in the selection and use of instructional technology supporting the academic programs of the college.
- the Web Policy Subcommittee, with a membership consisting of the Director of College Communications, the IT Director, the Director of Admissions or designee, the college web manager, and representatives from Student Affairs, the faculty, the student body, and the library. The subcommittee shall be chaired by the Director of College Communications. This subcommittee vets and recommends to TPAC on issues related to policies and priorities on use and support of the college’s web presence and services related to all parts of the college community.
