Outside Scholarship Opportunities

The following are scholarship opportunities that we have received in our office for the 2013-2014 academic year. Some of them have provided a web site that you can go to to download an application or get additional information. Czeh Heritage Foundation, Inc.

The Czeh Heritage Foundation Scholarship fund has monies available for applicants of Czech/Slovak ancestry who have completed a minimum of one year as a full time post secondary student, have at least 28 credits or are a graduate student.  Appicants home address must be within a 100 miles of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  More details and the application are available online at http://www.czechheritagefoundation.com/wp-content/uploads/Scholarship.pdf.  The deadline is July 1, 2013.

Robert D. Blue Scholarship

Young people today face many challenges as they begin their search for colleges. The rising cost of tuition is an additional challenge. Our goal is to provide financial assistance to Iowa students who deserve to be recognized. The Robert D. Blue Scholarship awards students who demonstrate literary and scholastic ability; exhibit qualities of truth, courage, and fellowship; and display moral force of character.

This scholarship's funding comes from the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation's interest earnings; thus, the number and amounts of scholarships awarded vary from year to year. These amounts awarded have varied from $500 to $1000. Last year the Foundation funded seven $1,000 scholarships.

Applicant Requirements

The applicant must be an Iowa resident planning to attend an Iowa college/university during the 2013-2014 school year. The applicant can be a current high school senior or someone already enrolled in a college/university. Governor Branstad and the other members of the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation will host a reception in honor of the winners in late July or early August in Des Moines.
