Candlelight Evening Prayer with Anointing for Healing
Allee Chapel, 4:30 p.m. - 4:55 p.m.
A 25-minute pocket of peace amid life's hurried pace as daylight fades to release burdens and rest in G-d. Draws from ancient Christian liturgy, prayer, scripture, simple chant tones, and silence. Additionally, for those seeking healing of body, mind, or spirit, the chaplain as priest offers an optional age-old rite of laying on of hands with anointing. Ecumenical and open to everyone. Led by Soul Friends and the chaplain. Contact: Catherine Quehl-Engel
David Robertson--Adolescent & Young Adult Empowerment Speaker & Sex Education Specialist
Hedges,
Thomas Commons, 6:30 p.m.
David Robertson, adolescent and young adult empowerment speaker, will share his story of depression, H.I.V. and triumph. 2007 was a life changing year for him when he was diagnosed with H.I.V. that summer. Struggling with depression and seeing others in despair encouraged him to find positive outlets volunteering with sick youth and mentoring at-risk teens. He began Helping Other People Evolve (H.O.P.E)., which later became Honesty Opens Peoples Ears. He aims to educate not only his peers but the next generation of youth who have been largely educated by mass communication and have no real preventative information on protecting themselves from sexually transmitted diseases, infections and H.I.V. Sponsored by BACO. Contact: Ariel Harris
