Block Breaks

Imagine leaving class at 3:00 on Wednesday with no deadlines, homework, or reading until the following Monday. At Cornell, students enjoy this luxury every single month.

What can you do with your block break?  It's your choice.  You have the option of staying on campus or leaving for a four-day break before starting fresh in a new course.

Students often use block breaks to relax on campus.  It's a perfect time to rest, catch up on laundry, socialize, and enjoy campus life. Visits home are also a popular option. There's nothing like a home-cooked meal to help those weary synapses.

Block breaks also give you a chance to earn some extra money without affecting coursework. Or maybe you'll choose to engage in an internship, job shadow, or volunteer experience.

And block breaks are tailor made for road trips. Mount Vernon is within easy driving distance of Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Madison, Milwaukee, and other interesting cities. Or maybe you'd prefer a ski trip to the Rockies, a canoe outing in Minnesota, or a visit to another campus to catch up with old friends.

Over the course of four years you'll enjoy 32 block breaks -- plenty of opportunities to try a little of everything.
