We are pleased to announce that an anonymous donor recently established the Guatemala Off-Campus Fund to support students pursuing study of language and culture in Guatemala. Students participating in any accredited program in Guatemala are eligible to apply. Awards will typically range from $300-$500 and will be based on the student's academic standing, a statement of purpose, and a faculty recommendation. Students receiving funding are expected to submit a reflective essay, in the form of a letter to the donor, to the Office of International and Off-Campus Studies upon their return to campus.
Students participating in off-campus internships sponsored by the Berry Center, Dimensions or the Cornell Fellows program are not eligible to apply. Students who have previously received funding from the Guatemala Off-Campus Fund will not be eligible to re-apply.
The International Studies Oversight Committee will review applications and make funding recommendations. Applications for programs in the summer and the following academic year should be received by Kimberly Cullen in the Office of International and Off-Campus Studies by March 18th. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the office by the deadline. If you have any questions about the award process, please contact Kimberly Cullen (x4385) in the Office of International and Off-Campus Studies.
