Cornell College Web Redesign Project
Project Description The redevelopment of a college Website is a complex and enormous undertaking and a task force was formed to determine the scope and priorities of the project, solicit proposals from outside experts, and then chose and partner with the best team. The task force recommended and the college has engaged mStoner, a firm specializing in higher education Website redevelopment, based in Vermont and Chicago. The firm is led by Michael Stoner, who was the lead in the 1999 Cornell Website redesign, working at that time with Lipman Hearne. mStoner will come to campus Dec. 5-7 to begin the discovery/research process and engage the entire Cornell community. They will return in January to present their proposal and receive feedback first-hand. We plan to launch most non-academic pages on the site, along with a new CMS (Content Management System), by mid-August 2007. Training on the CMS and the new design will begin in the summer and extend throughout the 2007-08 academic year as we phase in academic pages. The college will continue to offer and support Dreamweaver for some academic needs, such as student portfolios. Faculty will be consulted during the Dec. 5-7 research to determine how the CMS can serve the academic functions of the college, and this will determine which pages will remain in Dreamweaver. |
