327. The Greek Hero
Consideration of the Greek concept of heroism with attention to how
performance, genre, gender, and social and cultural values shape the
Greek view of the hero. Readings from Homer or the Attic dramatists in
the original Greek. Prerequisite: GRE 205. Offered every

Culture
Readings and discussion of original Greek texts that cast light on the
history, politics, society, and culture of Greece and the ancient
Mediterranean. Authors may include Arrian, Herodotus, Lysias, Pausanias, Plato,
Thucydides, Xenophon, or the Greek New Testament. Prerequisite: GRE
