Campaign for Cornell College

Liz Sparks '75

Liz Sparks is a class of 1975 graduate of Cornell College.

During Ms. Sparks December 3, 3007 visit, she gave an interactive lecture to students taking Professor Santhi Hejeebu's "Economics and Organizations" course. Ms. Sparks discussed a case study looking at the incentives in the radio industry between the financial stakeholders and the radio management. “Ms. Sparks was very knowledgeable in the radio industry,” says Nathan Benschwal, a student who attended the lecture. “It was a neat idea to have her propose a case and then have her come and speak to us about it, to verify our ideas and help develop new ones.”

Another student in the course, Anish Sigdel, commented after the course that Ms. Sparks "not only knew the contract but also observed what happened after the contract was signed. So a real life implication of how contracts work was seen. Before that, the contract was just some boring legal jargon, but after Liz Spark's speech, the paper had various meanings. I was able to see how the same contract had different meanings for different managers."

In addition to presenting the case study, Ms. Sparks joined the students for lunch where they were able to talk more informally about her lecture.
