| In February, 2008, Professor Carol Lacy-Salazar took a group of students to Bolivia for the Spanish course, Bolivian Culture and Civilization. One of the Distinguished Visitors invited to speak with students was Father Gregorio Iriarte, an economics Professor at the Catholic University in Cochabamba. His book, Análisis crítico de la realidad, is now in its 15th edition. It is an in-depth study of the economic problems underlying Bolivia's societal problems. He was able to address the factors underlying the War of the Pacific, contraband and the informal economy, and political and economic ramifications of the coca trade. |  |
