Peter Fisher

 

Peter Fisher is a Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Iowa where he has taught since 1977. He received a B.A. from Haverford College in 1968, a M.A. in Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1972 and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. He teaches courses in urban economics, local government finance, poverty, and community development finance. He appeared as an expert witness for Iowa City Stop Walmart in their recent court case against a supercenter planned for Iowa City.

On May 30, 2006, he reviewed the details of the local case against Walmart and led the class in a discussion of the pros and cons of Walmart’s proposed expansion in Iowa City. This discussion mirrored the conversation Fisher had with legal counsel representing Iowa City Stop Walmart.
