2009-10: ECB 9-266 (Block 9): International Marketing Laurel Anderson, Associate Professor of Marketing at Arizona State University taught a course that explores the marketing management decisions, techniques and strategies needed to apply the marketing concept to global and international markets. There was an emphasis on understanding a country’s cultural and environmental impact on the marketing plan is emphasized, as well as competing in markets of various cultures. Consumerism, developing countries, business ethics and current economic and marketing issues were examined. New product, branding and marketing communication decisions were especially highlighted. 2009-2010: Entrepreneurship Professor David Burgess from the University of Iowa Tippee College of Business taught the Berry Center sponsored course in Entrepreneurship, focusing on social entrepreneurship and leading to the creation and implementation of business plans. Read More
2009-10 H1N1: Risk and Response Cornell President Les Garner and Professor Barbara Christie-Pope from the Biology Department took four students to Washington D.C. to study the government's response to the H1N1 pandemic. They met with senior advisors in the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services, studying how information was disseminated and policy was created and enforced. 2008-09: Blueberry Study in Uruguay Former Cornell President Les Garner joined two students in Uruguay, serving as their advisor as they got straight to the heart of the economic and political factors that shape the business of blueberries, from growing to marketing to exporting. Read More
2007-08: Entrepreneurship Professor Eric Carlson from the University of Santa Clara taught a Berry Center-sponsored business enrichment course, "Entrepreneurship". This course introduced students to basic economic and managerial theories, and principles of innovation and entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on social benefit entrepreneurship (innovating on behalf of the poor).
