Tales from Planet Earth

In November of 2009, the Berry Center sponsored a trip to the Tales from Planet Earth film festival on the University of Wisconsin - Madison's campus. Students interested in Environmental Studies, specifically environmental policy, attended with Professor Andy McCollum from the Biology Department.

There were 50 films screened in five locations, with many topics highlighted. Some of the films included: Sleep Dealer, Restoring the Mauri of Lake Omapere, Yes Men Fix the World, and Harvest of Shame.  For more information, please click here.

Student Perspectives

The whole experience was just amazing! I got to be with friends while watching informational and inspirational documentaries on vastly different environmental aspects. We also went to a really good middle-eastern style restaurant for lunch. I would probably never have gone in there by myself so this trip pushed me to try new things- and it was delicious. This event reminded me that I should take advantage of all the opportunities present at Cornell.-- Kelsey Rem '12

I loved the ability to see films from independent film makers. All had great information and motives without being too much of the activist opinion. It was a good experience and I'd be glad to attend another such event. -- Natashia Pierce '11
