April is Sexual Assault Awarness Month. See how you can get involved and be part of creating a safe and respectful community.

We continue to live with Covid-19, the flu and other respiratory illnesses. The best way to guard your health is to stay up-to-date on vaccinations. The Mount Vernon Pharmacy has free drop-in vaccinations for Covid-19 and the Flu. Please take your insurance card with you and plan to wait 15 minutes after your vaccination to ensure you don’t have a reaction to the vaccine.

Monkeypox is also an emerging health concern.  It is a virus that is part of the same family that causes smallpox. Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder. It is transmitted by direct contact (bodily fluids) with an infected person. We  are monitoring  the situation and will provide information as it becomes available. Current CDC information can be found here.

Reproductive and Sexual Health is something to stay aware of, our health center provides pregnancy and STI testing at no cost and free condoms are available across campus. Emergency contraception Plan B medications are available for purchase (sliding scale) at the health center.

Health Insurance

Cornell College strongly encourages all students to have health insurance. If you need help navigating your insurance needs, please stop by the health center for a referral to navigators in our area. If you do not have health insurance, or are covered by another state’s Medicaid plan, we can help you apply for Iowa Medicaid.

Travel Health

The health center provides up-to-date travel health information to all students traveling abroad. Resources for travel vaccines are available. We would encourage all students to meet with a nurse 6 weeks prior to their travel.
