A Cornell education will allow you to explore the rich diversity of the human experience, develop an understanding of ways of life fundamentally different from your own, and acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities that will make you become a productive citizen within society.

A dynamic academic initiative during our New Student Orientation program called the Common Text Program was developed to provide each of you insight into the academic culture here at Cornell.  Throughout the summer, we ask that you download or listen online to the TED Talk "The Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and then respond with a short essay or video response

During New Student Orientation, you will join other first year students, faculty, and staff in a discussion about the TED Radio Hour and your responses to the various TED Talks featured within the program.
