International Student Orientation

August 18-21, 2018

As a new international student, arriving on campus can be both exciting and worrying. We want to reduce your concerns, so you can feel confident as you start your educational journey here at Cornell. We have a tradition of welcoming you (and your fellow international students) to a special International Student Orientation.

Plan on flying into the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on your scheduled day of arrival (August 15-16, 2018). A Cornell College staff member will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the Hilltop in Mount Vernon, Iowa. If you have any questions about the pick up from the airport, contact us at intercultural_life@cornellcollege.edu

Your new home on the Hilltop

Your orientation will take place before the New Student Orientation for domestic students. By taking part in our International Student Orientation, you will be able to tour campus with your fellow international students and become more familiar with the town of Mount Vernon, Iowa, before the arrival of the U.S. students.

Get ready for life on the Hilltop

Besides becoming familiar with campus and the town you will be calling home, we can help you with many other common needs:

  • Open a bank account in Mount Vernon, Iowa
  • Shop for necessary supplies
  • Introduction to immigration regulations
  • Resources for your health and education
  • Introduction to our computer and library services
  • Adjustment strategies
