Cornell history major will intern at African-American Museum of Iowa
Cornell history major Amy Harrison ’18 will be spending the summer of 2016 as the Small Fellow in Museum Studies doing an internship at the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. Harrison will be working in the curatorial department under the guidance of head curator Brianna Kim.
The internship will give Harrison, who plans to pursue a career in public history and museum work, first-hand experience working with archival material and artifacts by cataloguing, digitizing, and preserving them. She will also assist with research, and the development of the AAMI’s traveling and online exhibits. Harrison will also design and install her own temporary exhibit on an aspect of African American history at the Museum.
The Small Fellow in Museum Studies is made possible by a grant from Richard and Norma Small.
