This is a study-skills course offered every year across blocks 2, 3 and 4.
During blocks 2, 3, and 4 the course will meet on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15pm (location to be determined). The course will also involve one hour of individual meetings every other week with the instructor to work on personal study skill goals and assignments.
A student earns .25 credit without a grade for successfully completing this 12-week course. The course involves approximately 3 hours of time each week for class attendance, reading, and homework. Topics covered include: time management, how to take notes from textbook and in lectures, how to evaluate and improve motivation, how to increase self-control and willpower, etc. First-year students and transfer students benefit taking this course in their first semester as they adapt to studying on the block plan.
Please see the Coordinator for Academic Support and Advising to register for the course before the course begins.
If you are interested in the course but cannot attend class on Monday afternoons, please notify the Coordinator. You may also opt to meet individually with the Coordinator to discuss these topics to improve your skills, but won't be able to earn the credit.
Students receiving an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher probably do not need this course.
