RE: Mildred Eubanks Carstensen Award
Through the generosity of Mildred Eubanks Carstensen ’66 and Fred Carstensen, Cornell College is pleased to announce the the Mildred Eubanks Carstensen Award For Interdisciplinary Course Development.
The award is intended to assist in the development of interdisciplinary or linked courses the award winner intends to teach within the following two years. The course-development project should be substantive; it should culminate in the creation of a detailed syllabus or comparable materials. Faculty proposing a new course should communicate with their departmental colleagues prior to the submission of a proposal. The award comes in the form of a $1,000 taxable summer stipend. One award will be available in the 2019-20 academic year. The Eubanks Carstensen Award winner must submit a detailed syllabus or comparable work by August 31, 2020. The grantee cannot be considered for further faculty development funding if this material is not filed.
The Divisional Council will evaluate the applications and make recommendations to the Dean.
- Online proposals should contain the following sections:
- Proposed Course Title.
- A brief description of the project (250 words), including the intended student constituency; the purpose, scope and significance of the course; the interdisciplinary or linked nature of the course; and the importance of the new course in the context of Cornell’s core curriculum.
- Proposals should be submitted using the online form by March 6, 2019 for projects to be undertaken during the 2019-20 academic year or during the summer of 2019. Acknowledgement of receipt of the proposal will be sent. Retain a copy for your file. Awards will be announced by the end of March 2019.
