Extraordinary Opportunities
Students Explore Education Policy in South Africa

During second block last fall, Professor Gayle Luck had the opportunity to take seven students to southern Africa for the education course Policy to Practice: Comparative Educational Systems, the United States and southern Africa. The group traveled with Professor Shannon Reed’s 11 person English course, Advanced Topic: Southern African Art, Literature, and Culture in Context. The group spent 17 days traveling to several locations throughout Africa, visiting a variety of sites including churches, schools, museums, and universities.

Student Athletes Take ACTION
Last January, Shanda Ness, Senior Woman Administrator for Athletics and Katie Green, Women's Basketball/Volleyball Coach, started an organization where female student athletes from all teams could come together to develop their leadership skills. ACTION (A Commitment To Impact Our Now) currently has 20 students involved and meets twice a block to participate in small group discussions and activities.

Target Fellows Launch their Careers
Cornell Fellows engage in high-level internship experiences in professional settings and have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to the business world. Over 100 Cornell students have benefited from the fellows program since it began in 2005. For two of those students, Aaron Reykdal '06 and Brittany (Roth) Eckstam '07, a Target fellowship led to a job offer and the beginning of a career.

Spotlight on the Senate Executive Board (Part 1)
Student Senate is the primary method for students to participate in the governance of the Cornell community and provides support to over 80 campus organizations. The student leaders on the Senate Executive Board each play a unique and critical role in the success of the group. The roles of President, Vice-President, and Secretary are highlighted.
