When it was first built this building was called the "Cottage" and used to house the infirmary. It was the first building on campus designated as a student health center. After 1923 some Cornell staff members lived here. Since 1969 it's been a social and cultural center and is currently operated by the Black Awareness Cultural Organization (BACO).
