Janeve West, Associate Professor of Theatre, is a teaching-artist, director and actor. She teaches and heads the areas of theatre history/literature and directing. Janeve spent three years as a director/actor for the Omaha Theatre Company. She has directed a variety of world premieres, devised pieces and fully scripted productions for The Llano Estacado Institute for the Performing Arts, and at multiple venues in western Illinois, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, and Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill.
Janeve has a deep interest in Theatre as Social Change, Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, Womyn’s Theatre, Puppetry, new script development, the teaching of directing, Viewpoints, Children’s Theatre and Creative Dramatics. Her directing credits include: Cloud 9, Waiting for Godot, Night at the Mercury Theatre: War of the Worlds, Beauty and the Beast, Proof, The Learned Ladies, Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, The Tempest, Woyzeck and Sweeney Todd. She holds an M.F.A. in Theatre with a dual emphasis in directing and acting from Texas Tech University and a B.A. in Theatre and English Education from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. Janeve will direct Cornell’s upcoming production of Here and Now.
