Cornell College offers majors in Russian and Russian Studies, and
a minor in Russian. Although foreign study is not required for these
majors, students are strongly encouraged to participate in a Study
Abroad program.

RUSSIAN MAJOR
|
Emphasizes language and literature. Provides the most courses in
Russian of the 3 options.
|
A minimum of seven course credits in Russian at or above the 300
level, which include RUS 301 or 303 and at least 2 courses in Russian literature.
A maximum of two courses in Russian history may be applied toward
the major: HIS 321 (Muscovite and Imperial Russia), HIS 322 (Revolutionary
and Soviet Russia), and HIS 323 (Russia from 1941).

RUSSIAN MINOR
|
Abbreviated form of the Russian major.
|
A minimum of five course credits in Russian which include RUS 205,
301 or 303, and three other Russian courses at or above the 300
level, al least one of which must be a literature course conducted
in Russian. One course in Russian history may be applied toward
the major (HIS 321, HIS 322, or HIS 323).

RUSSIAN STUDIES MAJOR
|
Interdepartmental major that includes history, politics and philosophy,
as well as language and literature.

RUS 103, 205, 301 and 5 courses (at least 2 of which must be courses
in Russian history) selected from HIS 321, 322, 323; PHI 307 (Marx
and Marxism); POL 327 (Revolutionary Political Thought); and courses
in the Russian Program at or above the 300 level.
