Q. How do I propose or apply for a Living Learning Community or Theme House?
A. To submit a proposal for the Living Learning Community & Theme Housing program, please complete the following steps:
1. Partner with six to eight students who share a common societal issue
2. Attend the Living Learning Community & Theme Housing Informational Session
3. Select an advisor! Each house must have an adviser who is either a faculty member or an approved college official, and who is committed to playing a key role in helping students reflect on what they are learning.
4. Submit your application by the date listed in the proposal. The completed application and supplemental materials must be submitted electronically.
Q. How does the selection process work?
A. The selection process is as follows:
The selection committee will review and score applications. Additional each group will have the opportunity to interview with a panel of campus representatives. Living Learning Community and Theme Housing placements will be announced prior to Housing Lottery for 2016-2017.
Q. What are the perks to living in an Living Learning Community or Theme House?
A. Perks of an LLC or Theme House:
Students who participate in a Living Learning Community & Theme Housing will be living with other students who share similar academic and/or social interests as themselves. Participation in a community will help students become connected to the campus, and developing their own programming around a unique societal issue. This passion or personal interests fostering academic success.
Q. Is space limited?
A. YES! Space is limited.
The selection process happens before the 2016/2017 Housing Lottery. If you are interested in being a part of the Living Learning Communities or Theme Housing you must submit a proposal by the deadline. In order to provide a centralized experience for those living in our theme communities, we need to keep space limited. If you are unable to select the LLC/ Theme House of your choice for the next academic year, we may offer other options in the future!
