Greetings from Cornell College Athletics

The fall was a flurry of excitement with three new head coaches making their Cornell debuts: Matt Dillon ’81 (football), Dan Schofer (cross country) and Dan Cotterill (men’s soccer). We are very proud of our women’s cross country accomplishments, finishing fourth in the IIAC championships and achieving two all-conference performances from Rachelle Hawkins and Patricia Gonzalves — a first for Cornell!  Women’s tennis, led by Fred Burke ’70, continues to shine, finishing second in the IIAC and ranked No. 15 in the Central Region.

Keeping pace with our more than 300 student-athletes is Jeremy Frey, head strength and conditioning coach. Coach Frey is implementing and supervising individual and team training sessions for nearly all of our programs, and already the students and coaches notice a difference. It’s inspiring to see the dedication and commitment to excellence every day in the weight room.

The winter season is well under way and our teams are making great strides each week. Over the holiday break, the women’s basketball team traveled to Hawaii for games and wrestling won the Citrus Invitational in Florida. These extended trips are not possible without the generosity of many Cornell friends and family.

I invite you to keep up with Cornell athletics, or to share your news with us and tell us how you’re doing. Simply go online to www.cornellcollege.edu/athletics to find information on Ram sports plus live KRNL webcasts of our home football, wrestling duals and men’s and women’s basketball contests. Check it out!

Go RAMS!
