Athletes earn academic honors

Sophomore, junior or senior members of varsity teams with at least a 3.50 GPA are recognized as Academic All-Iowa Conference. Fall athletes from Cornell, listed with their hometowns and majors if declared, are:

Men’s Cross Country: Jonathan Bostrom, Zimmerman, Minn., music/biochemistry and molecular biology.

Women’s Cross Country: Chrissy Borisova, Pazardjik, Bulgaria, international business/international relations; Patricia Gonzalves, Wheaton, Ill.; Amanda Jepson, Wayland, Iowa.

Women’s Golf: Melody Roth, Fort Collins, Colo., biochemistry and molecular biology/history.

Men’s Soccer: Patrick Carry, Centennial, Colo., sports medicine; Patrick Kelly, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Julius Marapachi, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, mathematics/economics and business; Vitaly Shmel’kin, Moscow, Russia.

Women’s Soccer: Chelsea Coyne, Minneapolis, Minn., Spanish/international relations; Belain Eyob, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, biochemistry and molecular biology; Katie Ward, Greenwood Village, Colo., biochemistry and molecular biology.

Women’s Tennis: Becky Birkhofer, Albert Lea, Minn., biology; Emily Loewen, Lawrence, Kan., economics and business; Kristin Willard, Greeley, Colo., economics and business/sociology.
