General Psychology

Exam #1

Each exam will contain essay, short answer, and multiple choice questions.
Approximately half of an exam grade will be based on essay and short answer responses, and the other half of the grade will be based on multiple choice questions.

Essay and short answer questions are probably the best way to assess students' understanding. However, multiple choice items are also used (a) so a large number of topics can be covered on the exam (especially important in an introductory course), and (b) to provide a more fair test for students who do not write well.
