Pfeiffer: A New Home with a Familiar Feel Chris Wiltgen, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Residence Life Only eight months after renovation began on Pfeiffer Hall, it has re-opened and is displaying its original 1930s charm blended with numerous modern touches. Home to the most spacious lounge on campus, with new warm colors and a large flat screen television mounted above the original fireplace, Above: Pfeifer provides the unique commodity of a kitchenette/lounge space on each floor. Sam Arnold, class of 2011, lived in Pfeiffer before the renovation and returned in January when the building re-opened. He commented "I enjoy having multiple kitchens, their locations are convenient and they don't get as messy.” Sam states further: “the showers are very nice as well as the rest of the bathroom.” All new plumbing and electrical supplies, radiant heating, floor finishes, and spacious bathrooms and showers greatly enhance the environment and meet the needs of today’s student.
Pfeiffer Hall at full capacity will house 160 students. The addition of new ADA public restrooms, an elevator providing accessibility to all floors, new fire alarm and fire suppression sprinkling system, data, phone and video system, laundry room, vending area, RA Office, and conference room also highlight the $4.4 million renovation. Over the past eight years more than 40% of Cornell’s residence hall spaces have been fully renovated or newly constructed, providing a better home away from home for students.
