Cornell College has established exchange agreements with the following institutions in Japan for summer, short-term, semester, and/or year-long exchange programs.
Kyoto Seika University - Kyoto
A Humanities Exchange agreement with Kyoto Seika University allows Cornell students to study for a semester or or a year in Japanese. Courses in the humanities are offered in a variety of categories in Kyoto, Japan. Cornell-approved students pay Cornell tuition as usual and are responsible for airfare, visa, and room and board. Students can also apply for Japan Organization for Student Support (JASSO) scholarships.
- Kyoto Seika University - semester or year-long program (humanities exchange application deadline is twice a year; apply early to be considered for a JASSO scholarship)
- Summer Program at Kyoto Seika University - in English; not for credit.
Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College - Tokyo
Every other year, 4-5 female Cornell students participate in an exchange program in Tokyo, Japan. During their 9 to 10-day stay, they attend classes (in English), participate in various activities, and explore cultural attractions in the local area. Students cover their airfare and some meals and are accompanied by a Cornell professor. Each student completes an individual independent study project to earn course credit for the block.
- Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College (application deadline was April 1, 2016 for the November 2016 exchange program at Aoyama Gakuin)
On alternate years, 4-5 students and a professor from Aoyama Gakuin visit the Cornell campus for 9-10 days on exchange. Their next visit will be in February 2018.
- Male and female Cornell students interested in being ambassadors to our visitors should send their names to International & Off-Campus Studies.
