The faculty and the staff of the Academic Affairs Office welcome you to Cornell College.  You are joining a vibrant and nurturing educational community. Cornell provides extraordinary opportunities for academic challenge and intellectual growth.

We encourage you to take advantage of all the College offers: close student-faculty interaction, small classes, off-campus field trips and courses, summer research, independent research projects, internships, and international study, for example. Embrace the intimacy and intensity of the Cornell experience and take responsibility for making the most of your undergraduate education.

In the boxes below, you will find information that allows you to begin planning your Cornell education now. Take some time this summer to review the information about your first year at Cornell. Soon after you arrive on campus in August you will meet your academic advisor, who will guide you through the process of selecting your courses for the first three terms. In October, you and your advisor will select your courses for the remainder of the year. Explore the many and excellent academic resources that will help you make the most of your Cornell education. Finally, explore the exciting experiences and opportunities that await you in your future at Cornell.

We invite you to begin your intellectual journey this summer by joining the Cornell and Mount Vernon communities in reading The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman, which won the 2008 Orion Book Award. One Book, One Campus, One Community is an exciting program sponsored by Cornell’s Cole Library and Dimensions with the goal of creating opportunities for life-long learners to come together to discuss a fantastic book.  In September the author will visit campus to meet and talk with us.

Have a wonderful summer. We all look forward to welcoming you personally to the campus in August.  In the meantime, if you have any questions about Academics at Cornell, please do not hesitate to contact us at registrar@cornellcollege.edu.
