Mary Rettig is Cornell’s new director of college advancement

Mary RettigMOUNT VERNON — Mary Rettig of Middle Amana is Cornell College’s new director of college advancement.

Rettig has worked in higher education and financial services for the past 12 years, most recently at the University of Iowa Foundation, where she was director of development working primarily with the College of Nursing and the College of Pharmacy. As director of college advancement at Cornell, Rettig will plan and implement fundraising programs and manage the advancement staff.

“Mary’s experience and appreciation for a liberal arts education will help Cornell take great strides in securing the resources that can provide our students extraordinary opportunities,” said Peter Wilch, vice president for alumni and college advancement.

Rettig earned a bachelor’s degree at Luther College, a master’s degree and a doctorate in planning, policy and leadership studies, both from the University of Iowa.
