Praise for Cornell professors' article on information literacy

July 10, 2007

MOUNT VERNON — Two Cornell College professors are authors of a piece on information literacy that has been selected as one of the top 20 library instruction articles by the American Library Association Library Instruction Round Table (ALA LIRT).

The article, "Layering Knowledge: Information Literacy as Critical Thinking in the Literature Classroom" [Pedagogy 6.3 (2006)], was co-authored by Katy Stavreva, associate professor of English, and Shannon Reed, assistant professor of English.

The article reflects on their classroom practices and builds on ideas discussed at an Associated Colleges of the Midwest workshop on information literacy for literature faculty, which Stavreva helped organize at Cornell.

For more information on LIRT's Top 20, read the June newsletter.
