Cornell hosts Maia String Quartet Sept. 23

MOUNT VERNON — The Maia String Quartet will be in concert Sunday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. in Ringer Recital Studio of Armstrong Hall on the Cornell College campus. Admission is free.

The program features Mozart’s Larghetto from Quintet in A, K.581, and Quintet for Clarinet in A and String Quartet by composer Margaret Brouwer, with clarinetist Daniel Silver. Brouwer will join the performers in an informal back-talk session following the concert.

Formed in 1990 at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Maia Quartet has served as faculty at the Peabody Conservatory of Music and currently is the faculty quartet-in-residence at the University of Iowa. Quartet members are Tricia Park and Zoran Jakovcic, violins, Elizabeth Oakes, viola, and Hannah Holman, cello.
