RAGBRAI XXXVI

Cornell and Mount Vernon welcomed nearly 15,000 cyclists as they rode through town and past campus on July 25, 2008, on RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). Dozens of faculty, staff, and students wearing purple Cornell T-shirts greeted riders as they passed the campus.

We handed out glow-in-the-dark Cornell wristbands, offered a free Internet café, and displayed Rams-All-Around and a special “Ramchop” bike created by Art Professor Tony Plaut, Class of 1978. Mount Vernon’s population more than quadrupled for a few hours, creating a memorable summer day for riders and residents alike.
