Chamber Singers is an advanced ensemble of 24 singers selected from the top ranks of Concert Choir. Membership is open to all qualified singers, including first-year students and non-majors. Led by Dr. Lisa Hearne, Chamber Singers offers a challenging, exciting choral experience in a group with a distinguished tradition of musical excellence.
The repertoire includes madrigals, vocal jazz, spirituals, motets, and advanced literature from all style periods. Special focus is on works by contemporary composers such as Eric Whitacre and Eleanor Daley.
The ensemble completed European tours in 2005, 2001, and 1999. Recent tours have also taken Chamber Singers to New Orleans, Memphis, St. Louis, Chicago, Kansas City, and Minneapolis.
Major campus concerts are held in December and April, with additional concerts throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
