What is Media Board

Media Board meets at least monthly to monitor, guide and advise the student media heads. Media Board is in charge of hiring and (if necessary) firing of media heads and business managers. Media Board must also give approval to major funding requests from the media to Student Senate. The meetings led by the student vice-chair (elected from the student membership) and are informal but voting procedures follow Roberts Rules of Order.

Members are the editors-in-chief of The Cornellian and the Royal Purple, the KRNL general manager, the three student media business managers, Student Senate president, one faculty rep, one business office rep, and one division of student affairs rep. Consulting are the three faculty or staff advisors to the three media. The director of college communications is chair.

There are seven voting members: editor-in-chief of The Cornellian, editor-in-chief of the Royal Purple, KRNL general manager, faculty rep, business office rep, student affairs rep, and Student Senate president. In the case of a tie, the media board chair may cast a vote.

Media Board meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each block at 11:30 a.m., usually in Magee Dining Room. Meetings are open to the college community.
