Instructions for Applicants for The Cornellian

All Applicants: Please fill out the online "Application for Student Media Head Appointments," Sections A and B. In Section C, provide three references. In addition, write a letter of application and e-mail it to Media Board Chair Dee Ann Rexroat. The letter should include information about prior journalism or managerial experience and should detail your leadership abilities and how you would apply them at The Cornellian. The inclusion of a resume is optional.

Applicants for Editor-in-Chief: Please include in your letter of application your reflections on the trends in recent issues of The Cornellian or in newspapers and media in general. Please indicate your goals for the paper, including your thoughts on how it can best serve the Cornell community. If you are applying with another individual for co-editor-in-chief, you must submit a joint letter of application. What prior experience has prepared you for this position? Please indicate if you will be off campus or student teaching for one or more blocks next academic year.

Applicants for Business Manager: Please include in your letter of application your thoughts and views on the role of the Business Manager within the framework of the newspaper staff. Include your conception of your responsibilities should you become Business Manager and how you would go about performing these responsibilities. Also include relevant experience working with budgets and/or finances (college or high school courses, volunteer work, etc.) Please indicate if you will be off campus or student teaching for one or more blocks next academic year.
