The Cornellian Editor-in-Chief
- is responsible for every aspect of The Cornellian including:
- content and tone
- recruiting, training, and supervising staff (including full training of a replacement)
- supervising story & photo assignments; editing & layout
- evaluation of editors and their sections
- circulation & advertising · printing/publishing
- budget and other appropriations
- overall administration of The Cornellian office
- consults with faculty advisor, especially on matters concerning content, evaluation, libel, and freedom of expression.
- prepares and oversees The Cornellian budget in consultation with The Cornellian Business Manager.
- attends Media Board meetings and gives monthly reports to its members.
- represents, at all times, The Cornellian and its interests.
- maintains an open relationship with Student Senate and submits budget approved by the Media Board.
- directs relations between the Cornellian and other organizations or bodies on campus, including the administration.
- adheres to professional journalistic standards and ethics.
Training begins immediately after selection and the editor-in-chief will serve from Block 9 of the current academic year through Block 8 of the following academic year.
