The Cornellian Business Manager

  1. Works in close contact with the Editor-in-Chief on all financial and other business of The Cornellian.
  2. Pays production bills and keeps a general ledger and a ledger of specific expense and revenue accounts.
  3. Consults with Editor-in-Chief about all unusual transactions, e.g., new equipment, raises, and subscriptions for new publications.
  4. Issues staff checks at the same time each month.
  5. Attends staff meetings and Media Board meetings.
  6. Submits monthly written financial reports to Media Board and continually ensures that the Cornellian balance matches the balance shown in the Business Office.
  7. Works with the Editor-in-Chief to prepare annual budget.
  8. Oversees work of circulation and advertising managers regarding income and expenditures.
  9. Cooperates with Royal Purple business manager when joint accounts exist.

Training begins immediately after selection, during block 8, and the new business manager will serve from Block 9 of the current academic year through Block 8 of the following academic year.
