ACP Conference

three Medias will leave for the ACP Conference in Austin Texas today, Thursday,
Oct 29.
Media Constitution Update
Media Board Constitution-The
only changes suggested to the Media Board constitution are to the by-laws concerning
payment of honoraria for the staff of the Royal Purple, and to require business
managers/KRNL station manager to attend Senate audit committee meeting/s. Changes to the by-laws do not need Student
Senate approval.
Cornellian Constitution-No updates are needed.
Royal Purple-Update to reflect the change to honoraria paid to the staff. Payment will be made by the block and based on completion of deadline. Also added to the constitution was having the business manager attend the Audit Committee meetings. It was decided that rather than making a yearbook index mandatory in the Constitution that it would be added to the by-laws.
KRNL Constitution-There is a change to the position of librarian. It has been combined with the position of Program Director and more duties were added to the newly combined position. They will also add something in the by-laws about opening mail with the general manager or advisor present.
Evaluation Process
It was determined that staff paid through fundraising should
also be evaluated, not just those paid by honoraria from Senate.
Media Updates
KRNL-Moving the equipment away from the ceiling leak is almost
complete. The problem with Internet broadcasting remains. There is no common thread
of variables that points to the problem. The plan is to embed the feed on the Webpage
which may help circumvent the problem. The EAS (Emergency Alert System) printer
is broken and engineer George Nicolas is on alert and said he would be on
campus soon to fix it. Dee ann will call
George today due to the importance of staying incompliance with the FCC.
Royal Purple-Natashia shared an example of the cover for the 09-10 yearbook. Nov. 28 is the first deadline and everyone seems to be on track. Staff retreat went well, all section editors but one participated. The distribution plan for the 08-09 yearbooks is to mail the senior's yearbooks and then distribute to the underclass students.
Cornellian-There are two new staff members, Asst Copy Editor and Graphics Editor. The search has begun for a Sports Editor and News Editor. The new Cornellian website is almost done.
