Media Updates:
Royal Purple: Nicole Potter reported that half of Royal Purple’s editors met the deadlines. An editor to cover the senior class was appointed. Royal Purple is looking into affordable camera options. Dee Ann offered use of photos from the communication office.
KRNL: Seven people performed in the Open Mic. Attendance was good. The DJ training is continuing.
The Cornellian: Google Docs is implemented for the entire writing and editing process. Basic journalistic training is ongoing. Editors will also have deadlines like their writers so as to encourage accountability and they will be responsible for the writers’ turning in the articles on time as well. The collaboration with the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Sun is going strong as the fire article is covered well. All missing staff members are covered.
Senate Update:
Sean McKenna read highlights of the new Honoraria
by-laws and noted that that they must be strictly followed.
Business Updates:
Royal Purple: Nicole Potter said $5,000 is owed to a publisher that will be paid soon.
KRNL: The FCC required a new digital Emergency Alert System machine, so money was taken out of the reserve account and an emergency appropriations was made to cover the cost.
The Cornellian: Everything is going on as usual. We still need to get the final figures for the conference trip.
Subcommittee for Reserve Account: Sean summarized the reserve account process. The outlines will be drafted and shared with everyone. Constitution would be rewritten to accommodate for the changes.
Self-Evaluations: Dee Ann outlined the process which is on the Media Board site. Media heads will have to turn in their self-evaluation as well as peer evaluations by the end of the third week of the block 3.
Mike Kragenbrink will be evaluating the business managers on the 2nd week of block 4.Sean also mentioned that the Auditor General would be going through the bills during Block 4.Constitution Sub-Committee Update: Michelle Mouton has reorganized the document. The subcommittee needs to meet again before bringing the document to the Board. In terms of changes, they discussed whether the head of the marketing department would be the appropriate head for Media Board. They meet at Updegraff next Thursday.
