Major Requirements for Mathematics
10-12 courses, including:
- Calculus sequence (refer to course catalogue for options)
- Calculus of a Single Variable Part I & II (119, 120) or Calculus of a Single Variable (121)
- Calculus of Several Variables (122)
- Seven courses at the 200 or 300 level, including:
- Linear Algebra (221)
- Differential Equations (236)
- Intro to Proof: Number Theory (301)
- Either Modern Algebra I or Analysis I (327 or 328)
- One 300 level two-course sequence (MAT 327-328, MAT 337-338, STA 347-348)
- Foundations of Computer Science (CSC 140)
- Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science (CSC 151)
- Statistical Methods I (STA 201) (if STA 348 is not one of the 300 level courses completed)

Notes:

- Calculus sequence for most students entails MAT 121 and 122. For those with AP and/or IB credit it may mean only MAT 122. For some it will mean MAT 119, 120 and 122 -- click here for additional guidance.
- STA 347-348 can be substituted for STA 201.
- All 200- and 300-level courses are offered every other year with the exception of MAT 221, MAT 236 and MAT 301.
- For secondary education majors, student teaching must be completed in terms 1-4 or 5-8 of the senior year (starting in 2009-2010). MAT 231 should be taken in the sophomore or junior year depending on when it is offered, and students will need to plan carefully around the MAT courses that are offered in alternate years.
Teaching Major Requirements
The requirements for the mathematics major apply, except MAT 231 is required, and the grade point average in all mathematics courses must be at least 2.5. Please refer to the Teaching Major section of the course catalogue for additional requirements.
Minor Requirements
5-6 courses, including:
- Calculus sequence (refer to course catalogue for options)
- Calculus of a Single Variable Part I & II (119, 120) or Calculus of a Single Variable (121)
