Curriculum

Until recently, applied mathematics training was aimed largely toward the training of engineers. With the advent of computers, however, mathematics and statistics have also become powerful tools in the life sciences, economics, social sciences, and other areas.

Our curriculum has evolved in response to these changes. Our goal is to provide the core material and training necessary for graduate study in a range of disciplines for which mathematics and statistics have become increasingly important. As a small liberal arts school, we're also able to closely mentor and suport our students in interdisciplinary coursework, real-world internships, meaningful research, and other areas to meet their individual goals.

Heartland Mathematics Partnership

We have also extended our curriculum by joining the Heartland Mathematics Partnership with the University of Iowa and 12 other regional colleges. This partnership gives our students a connection to the U of I's prestigious graduate program while still enjoying Cornell's small classes, close faculty relationships, and liberal arts framework.
