Abbe Stensland is Cornell's Mock Trial Team Coach. She is the coordinator of the Center for Law and Society, and she is also a partner at Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC in Cedar Rapids where she practices primarily in bankruptcy law and commercial litigation with a focus on creditors’ rights.
During her law school career, Coach Stensland was a Staff Writer and Note & Comment Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law, as well as a member and Director of the Trial Advocacy Board. For her efforts, Coach Stensland was recognized by both the American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers for excellence in trial advocacy. Coach Stensland is also actively involved in the American Mock Trial Association as a judge and coach of intercollegiate mock trial. She has also served as both a judge and volunteer coach at the high school and middle school level prior to coaching at Cornell.
Coach Stensland competed in mock trial all four years of her undergraduate career at Central College. She also competed in trial advocacy competitions while a law student at The University of Iowa College of Law. Coach Stensland has been with Cornell mock trial since fall 2009.
