Product Enhancement Requests

The following is a list of requested product enhancements to the SunGard Self Service portal and their status from the Cornell user base.

Completed:

  • The need to accurately search for a course that meets specific gen ed requirements.  Go to solution
  • The ability to find a student's Advisor. Go to solution
  • The ability to make the Self Service fonts larger. Go to solution
  • The ability to email students and advisees from Self Service.
  • The ability to select the My Advisees link and get a list of my advisees.
  • Straighten out the photo of South Hall, trees, students on the front of the Self-Service page.
  • The ability to list students by majors and minors (include graduation year). Go to report
  • In the section search, increase the default for the number of courses displayed to a higher number.  Having the list of courses default to 10 items listed and having the default restored on subsequent searches is an inconvenience.

In Progress:

  • Shared Access - The functionality that allows students to share grades and financial information with parents/guardians.

Other items in order of being received

  • We need a "No prerequisites" filter which would find courses suitable for first year students.  These are the courses that were marked with an asterisk in previous term tables.
  • One problematic feature is that the year can change merely by "mousing over" a different year.  The class enrollment listing should default to the current year, and should only change year by clicking on a different year.  The trouble with mousing over a year is that it's really, really easy to inadvertently switch years, and then I'm suddenly looking at the wrong class data.
  • When you are looking at the unofficial transcripts of current advisees, the courses do not have the gen ed designations listed, so it is not possible to advise a student in terms of what gen ed requirements they have completed and which still need to be completed.
  • On lists of advisees, I would like to be able to see what class they are part of. Or to be able to search for advisees who are to graduate in a given year. I regularly send different emails to first-year, second-year, etc. advisees, but can’t sort them this way in the current system.
